If you ever get to a place and you met someone who is loud, big on life and has the best smile. The highest chance is you are in the presence of Sipiwe Zulu. Sipiwe Zulu recently completed her bachelor’s degree in Environmental studies at Mulungushi University. She is the author of “Daughter of the risen king”. She is passionate about the gospel of Jesus Christ and desires to see people succeed to their full potential. Her highest passion is teaching and she views children (Sunday school class) as a blank canvas upon which she can express herself. Because art is not her strongest suite. She is an inspiration to many.
1. What led you to embark on a journey of book writing?
I started writing the book in 2016 but a year before that I was home during one holiday from school. That morning I remember sitting on my bed after a morning devotion and going through my gallery. I found these pictures that read, “I am a princess not because I have a prince but because my father is a King. He is the King of Kings”. That is when it hit me that I was royalty.
2. How long did it take to write your book and what issues do you address in it?
I would like to bring it to your attention that it is not my book. This particular one and maybe more to come is not my book. It is OUR book. I say this because it is not only about me but also for its God’s gift to everyone. It took me two years. I addressed who a daughter is which is under ‘beauty of daughterhood’. Also. I address how to live as a daughter on earth.
3. What is your advice to a young person aspiring to be an author?
Just Do It! That is the best advice I can give anyone. Not just about being an author.
4. What challenges did you face from the time you started writing to the point of publication and what lessons have you learnt?
The biggest challenge I faced was myself if I am honest. All the questioning why and how everything would work. Who would buy the book and the like? The moment I got over myself and said Lord let your will be done that is when everything begun to fall into place.
5. Lastly, how did you overcome those challenges?
I prayed as if my life depended on it and wrote my heart out.
